Recipient.cc for adidas Boost

Pirelli Tower, historic symbol of Milan and milestone in contemporary architecture, for the first time ever has been the stage of a projection mapping.
At the launch of Adidas Boost in Italy, each of 9000 square meters of the facade came to life, resulting in a show of monumental proportions. The building was shaken by vibrations of energy, bent, broken, torn, and even brought down.
The projections also accompanied the exhibition of Thomas Dold (vertical running world champion) who raced up the stairs of the 31 floors of the skyscraper reaching the top in less than four minutes (vimeo.com/63239462), while the public was able to follow real time data on its performance on the tower facade, transformed for the occasion into a giant screen.

Realtime holographic mapping

Through the use of specific technologies and materials, we have carried on an in depth feasibility research for the construction of holographic projections, mapped in real time, to create virtual sets that can interact with the physical presence of the actors.
We focus our attention on the software to recognize the presence of bodies on stage,
on the structural part in order to facilitate the interaction between man and software and improve the holographic illusion,
on the graphics by using a framework normally used to create video games, here at the service of theater or other live shows.
The process can be divided into three main areas:
capturing, real-time rendering, projection mapping.
The capturing of the actor is realized with Microsoft Kinect to extrapolate the skeleton of the actor in the scene,
the skeleton of the actor is transmitted in real time to the engine Unity 3D with which are generated renderings in real time,
renderings are projected onto a plastic material that allows the visualization on the actor in transparency thereby creating the holographic effect.
This study is part of the production process of the show "Augmented Pinocchio" directed by and starring Michele Cremaschi which will debut in July 2013 at the Napoli Fringe Festival.

UnityRandom

Screen Shot 2012 04 20 At 2.58.08 PmIn Unity3d there is already a Random number generator based on the platform-specific random generator. Here we present an alternative Random library for Unity3d designed to generate uniform Pseudo-Random deviates. The library use a fast PRNG (Mersenne-Twister) to generate: Floating Number in range [0-1] and in range [n-m], Vector2 and Vector3 data types. The library comes with some special functions designed specifically for a game design framework: Shuffle Bag, Dice, Random Color.

A workshop focusing on using Unity3D with the addition of an overview of the interaction between software and recognition of the presence of bodies on stage.
Unity 3D is a tool commonly used to create video games, here will be put at the service of the theatre for the creation of virtual sets and backgrounds that can interact with the presence - physical and real - of the actors.
Introduction to the capturing techniques with the aid of various tools / open source software existing and in-depth use of Unity3D and its main features (lights, objects, textures, timeline, programming, etc).
Testing of different input devices for the analysis of the movement of the actor on stage, including cameras, infrared and standard ones and the kinect.
The aim of the workshop is to bring actors and computer experts together understanding how can they use and experiment with new possibilities that arise from the interaction between technology and human expression, in order to create a high level shared experience among actor-machine-viewer.
You can download all the info about the workshop, software and tutorial for unity3D here:
